Pays homage to the various roles she had, from her birth name, Araminta Ross her nickname Minty… to her role as a Freedom seeker/deliverer, Black Moses, an armed scout and spy in the Union Army in the American Civil War, General Tubman, & the home caretaking she provided for the poor and aging ~ Mother Tubman.

Gives visual homage to the journey she took thru the various terrain mostly by foot and sometimes wagon, & boat, along the Underground Railroad using the North Star as her GPS system and mostly during the winter months.

Jamaican born, Brooklyn native for 25 years. Seitu Barnes’ passion is in photography highlighting the disenfranchised population in NYC. In his professional life at the NYC Department of Education, he works closely with children and families in low-income communities to ensure their educational or developmental needs are met. He is a member of the Brooklyn based Major Taylor Iron Riders, co-designer of a host of popular cycling kits. Such as, the Major Taylor Black Lives Matters, Major Taylor Kansas City kit for the 2021 Unbound Gravel ride and the Major Taylor Iron riders 2021 club kit.
